About Amy Massingale
Dementia Care Consultant and Advocate
Compassionate Dementia Care Consultancy
I bring a unique perspective to my consulting practice. I was the primary caregiver to my parents, both of whom were beset by dementia - my father with Alzheimer's, and my mother with Lewy Body dementia mixed with Alzheimer's. I cared for them in my own home, as well as overseeing their care when they resided in care facilities. After their passing, I went to work for a memory care community as a Community Relations Director. This range of experience - from both sides of the illness - has given me a comprehensive understanding of dementia, of what works and doesn't work, and how to augment medical care with treatments and interventions that promote overall wellbeing, taking in to account the emotional, social, behavioral and spiritual needs of people living with the disease. I work from a place of compassion and empathy and can promise you that while the journey is not without its challenges, it is also not without joy if you know how to approach it.
I can help access the joy.
